SUGARING

WHAT EXACTLY SUGARING IS?

As its name implies, sugaring literally involves using sugar to remove unwanted body hair, specifically, with a mixture of sugar, lemon, and water that are mixed to create a sticky paste that clings to hair, effectively removing them. It is also said to be much less uncomfortable than waxing. Unlike waxing, sugaring works to remove the actual hair by the root without disturbing the surrounding skin so it tends to be gentler than waxing with less irritation. It’s 100% organic and bio degradable. It contains no harsh chemicals, resins, or fragrance.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT?

Make sure your hair is at least ¼-inch long — above the size of grain of rice. If it isn’t, we can’t garuntee that every single hair will come out. A few days before your appointment, lightly exfoliate with a buffing mitt or washcloth to get some dead skin cells out of the way. This will help prevent stray hairs from getting left behind. Prior to the appointment, dress in loose, cotton clothing for maximum comfort. Avoid using creams, lotions and deodorant before your appointment.

WHAT TO DO AFTER?

Avoid any activity that could cause sweating, such as working out, and soaking or swimming in water for at least 24 hours. Avoid direct sunlight, including tanning, for at least 24 hours. Also avoid hot water for the rest of the day, including a hot shower or bath and the use of a hot tub. If you had a Brazilian, try to avoid sexual activity for at least 24 hours so as not to rub or irritate the area.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS FROM SUGARING LAST?

After Sugaring results typically last three to five weeks. If you want to commit to a regular sugaring schedule, that works out to booking an appointment about once per month, or stretching it to six weeks if you're lucky. You will also notice that if you are consistent with sugaring appointments that over time your hair will grow back thinner and more sparse.

ARE THEY ANY RISKS?

Sugaring is actually a really safe form of hair removal. It is applied at body temperature so there is almost no chance of burning. It is also safe for sensitive skin, varicose veins, and psoriasis unlike traditional wax. Although, like anything there are always some contraindications.

If you're using a retinol or vitamin C on your skin, or you're taking steroids, antibiotics or Accutane, we advises that you steer clear of sugaring completely. Also avoid sugaring if you have bruising, swelling, rashes, open sores, sunburn, cold sores, or any type of outbreaks.
